Governors
Welcome to the Governance Area of our site!
Governors are a really important part of the school community and as stakeholders have a vital role .
So what is the role of the governing body?
Governors are the strategic leaders within schools and are responsible for promoting high educational achievement standards, ensuring every child and adult in their school flourishes. The governing board of a Church of England school will usually consist of the headteacher, the local vicar or his/her substitute, parent governors, staff governors, local authority governors and foundation governors. Except for the ex-Officio governors who remain in the role for the duration of their post, all other governors will usually have a term of four years
Here at St Helen’s Church of England Primary school we have a small but highly committed team of governors which includes parents, teachers, local community representatives and foundation governors. A foundation governor you have agreed to play a vital role in ensuring that the Christian principles on which our schools were founded are upheld in times of change and are lived daily in the life of the school. This begins by establishing good working relationships within the governing body and with the senior leadership of the school. These are relationships that needs to be based on trust, respect and aspirations for all our pupils.
Together we work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, staff and Enhance Academy Trust to ensure that the children who attend St Helen's maximise their potential and our vision is strengthened.
Whilst the School’s Senior Leadership Team are responsible for the day to day running of the school, the Local Governing Board is involved in the strategic direction of the school. The Local Governing Board plays an important role in ensuring that the school is accountable for its actions. The Governors meet 5 times per year for a formal meeting and also spend time in school in order to monitor developments and keep up to date with the progress made towards school priorities.
And we know, that in all things God
works for the good of those who love
Him, who have been called according to
His purpose. Romans 8:28
