  1. Community
  2. Food Hub

Food Hub

St Helen's Church of England Primary School is a proud to support our local school community in any way we can.  As a Christian school with Christian values at the heart of all we do have become a food hub to supporting our families. During the Covid -19 pandemic, families struggled and we made sure no families were without. In the spirit of our Christian values of Hope, Friendship and Trust with the Christian value of fellowship (Koinonia). The foundation of Christian Koinonia is Christ’s self giving on the cross, the supreme demonstration of his love for all. We love because he loved us first. For the first Christians, this was expressed in a genuine common life with shared meals, shared possessions and practical support for the poor.

The Christian church and its schools  today continues to serve not only those within the Christian community but any who are in need and are  without food..

National Breakfast Club

National School Breakfast Programme

St Helen's CE Primary is proud to have joined the government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast.

As a NSBP School we are pleased to offer a healthy school breakfast, available to all, and enjoy the benefits that brings, with children settled and ready to learn at the start of the school day.

It is very important for every child to access a good, healthy breakfast to avoid not only hunger but other symptoms such as irritability, anger, poor concentration headaches and tiredness.

Access to Breakfast club

Breakfast club starts at 7.45am and is held in the dining room in school.  We offer cereals, milk, water, fruit and bagels.  The cost is £1.50 and this is to cover the staffing costs for your childcare.

Afterwards, there are games and activities in the hall.

Access for all

Aside from the Breakfast club, all children will have the opportunity to taste delicious bagels on a daily basis at the start of their school day. If you have any queries regarding the breakfast opportunities we have at  St Helen's CE Primary, please come in and speak to a member of staff or alternatively pop into the office.
